Feni – Rail communications of Chittagong with Dhaka remained suspended as an engine of a freight train derailed after colliding with a truck at Fatehpur level crossing on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway here early Thursday.
Railways sources said the engine of a Dhaka-bound container-laden train from Chittagong veered off the track around 2:45am after crashing into a truck that remained stuck at the level crossing getting out of order, halting train movement on the Dhaka-Chittagong route.
Besides, traffic on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway was also suspended following the accident, causing immense suffering to the passengers.
Two relief trains from Laksham and Chittagong rushed to the spot to salvage the engine.
