Rajshahi Medical Hospital starts conducting coronavirus test

The Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) started conducting coronavirus tests at its laboratory on Wednesday.

Dr Sabera Gulnahar, chief of Virology Department and also in-charge of the hospital, said they started testing samples taken from four patients.

There are 240 test kits and 200 PPEs (personal protective equipment) in the lab. It would be possible to test eight samples per day. Besides, the concerned people have already been trained. Thirty doctors and medical technologist of Microbiology, Virology and Bio-Chemistry have been trained, he added.

Dr Md Nowshad Ali, principal of RMCH, said it will take 8-12 hours to get test reports.

Meanwhile, the government has announced the death of another coronavirus patient in the country. So far, Bangladesh has confirmed 54 cases and six deaths.
