Ramaswamy Iyer passes away, creamation Thursday

Ramaswamy R Iyer, scholar, activist and policy-maker, Honorary Professor, Centre for Policy Research, formerly Secretary, Water Resources, Govt of India, whose incisive writings have illuminated our understanding of rivers and shaped India’s water policy, passed away in Delhi on Wednesday 9 September 2015. Deeply mourned by wife Suhasini, sons Mahadevan and Sriram, daughter-in-law Rama and grandsons Achintya and Vidur.Cremation on Thursday 10 September 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Lodhi Road Crematorium, according to a message received from Himanshu Thakkar, leader of the South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers & People.
A passionate water activist Iyer genuinely wanted the protection of the rivers flowing down the Himalayas by guarding against undue human interventions that lead to their death.
