Ramendu Majumdar gets ITI Award

Ramendu Majumdar, former President (worldwide) of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) and now its honorary president honored with ‘ITI Award’ for his outstanding long term commitment to ITI. He was honored with this award at the Gala Ceremony of 70th anniversary celebration programme of ITI held at the Hainan Opera House in Haikou of Hainan located in China on November 23.
With the theme, preserving cultural heritage, encouraging artistic innovation, creating unity through diversity, the four-day anniversary celebration commenced on last Friday will come to an end today. Two other former ITI Presidents Jeong-Ok Kim of South Korea and Manfred Beilharz of Germany were also awarded with the medal.
About 200 foreign and Chinese delegates are attending this celebration as well as Haikou Theatre Festival under the patronage of UNESCO. Babul Biswas, Secretary of the ITI Publications Committee is the other delegate from Bangladesh.
To note, the founders of International Theatre Institute envisaged ITI 70 years ago, a platform for international exchange and for the education of the performing arts, as well as using the performing arts for mutual understanding and peace.
This vision of ITI has not changed ever since. With the great support from all the ITI family members in the past 70 years, ITI has now developed into the world’s largest organization for the performing arts.
