Dhaka – Three players shared the top slot in the Walton Air Conditioner International Rating Chess Tournament on Monday securing full four points from four matches at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room.
The leaders are: FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Golden Sporting Club, CM Md Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy and Kazi Taherul Islam of Learning Chess Club.
Another three players in the 2nd slot- GM Ziaur Rahman of Saif Sporting Club, Jabed Al Azad of Shahin Chess Club and Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Golden Sporting Club, secured 3.5 points each.
In the day’s 4th round matches, CM Sharif beat Abdul Momin, FM Parag beat Swarnavo Choudhury, Taher beat Md Sariatullah, GM Zia beat WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin, Jabed beat CM Subrota Biswas, Tahsin beat CM Sohel Chowdhury and IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin beat WIM Rani Hamid.
In the 3rd round matches on Sunday night, Swarnavo beat IM Minhaz while Tahsin drew with GM Zia.
The 5th round matches were in progress till filing this report Monday night while the 6th round matches will begin at 10 am on Tuesday.UNB
