Razzak turns 75

Living legend of Bangla film Abdur Rajjak, known as Nayak Raj Razzak, has turned 75 on Saturday.The versatile actor has won national film awards 5 times for Best Actor, alongside numerous other awards.Born on 23 January 1942 in Kolkata, Razzak has starred in over 300 Bangla and Urdu films from a career that started in the early 1960s.His first break came from Zahir Raihan’s ‘Behula’, which brought him stardom.In tribute to his birthday, a three-day special screening festival is currently underway on television to celebrate the 75th birthday of Bangladesh’s first film-star Razzak.Organised by Channel i, it started on Thursday and will continue till Saturday by showcasing some of his best films and arranging special programmes where he will be honoured in ways.Prime minister Sheikh Hasina greeted him as he cut a cake at Channel i and the programme was telecast live.Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, special assistant to the premier, attended the programme and conveyed her greetings to the actor on behalf of the head of the government.
