Dhaka – Bangladesh all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin who has long been suffering from a back injury has said he is up to make any change to his bowling action in order to save his career.
The 22-year-old all-rounder played for Bangladesh last month in the tri-series also involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. However, he was not allowed to bowl more than four overs during the practice ahead of the tri-series.
“I’ve been taking rest since the last series. I don’t know when I’ll be allowed to return to action. If there’s any need for surgery, I might go through it. Actually, I’m prepared to do anything to save my career,” Saifuddin told the media on Wednesday.
“As of today, BCB physicians sent my medical reports to England. I don’t know when further advice will come and I have to go accordingly,” he added.
If Saifuddin needs to have surgery, he might also need to change his bowling action which is likely to affect his performance as well.
However, the all-rounder is upbeat to adopt with any possible change as he said: “Mashrafe bhai played with many surgeries. I just started my career. So, it might be difficult for me. But I’m ready to do anything.”
Due to the injury, Saifuddin’s availability is uncertain for Bangladesh’s India tour next month where the Tigers will face the hosts in three T20Is and two Tests.
Saifuddin started his international career back in 2017 with a T20I against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Since then he has been performing well to establish himself as an integral part of Bangladesh’s limited-overs set-up.
He represented Bangladesh in 20 ODIs and 13 T20Is till the date. Along with international appearances, he played 33 First-class, 71 List-A and 53 T20 matches in domestic cricket.UNB
