Dhaka, May 04: Eminent haematologist and laboratory medicine specialist Professor Col (Retd) Md Moniruzzaman has died of deadly coronavirus.He breathed his last at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) around 5:30pm on Sunday, Dr Nirupoma Das, chief of Bangladesh Doctors’ Foundation, confirmed.
Dr Moniruzzaman had been suffering from fever and chest pain for last few days. He was taken to the hospital in the afternoon following deterioration of his condition, the family members said.
His sample was collected where he was found positive for the virus infection.
Dr Moniruzzaman was the chief haematologist at Anwer Khan Modern Medical College in the capital. He was the second doctor who died of COVID-10 in the country.
