RU student-adviser relieved of duty

Rajshahi: Rajshahi University Chemistry department professor Laila Arjumand Banu on Sunday has been relieved of the responsibilities of the student adviser post by the university authority. An acting registrar of the university Professor MA Bari on Sunday confirmed this to the reporters through issuing an office order.
The university proctor professor Lutfor Rahman will take the additional charge as student adviser until a fresh appointment to the post is made.
However, many are criticizing the university as the university administration has fired professor Laila from the post on the International Women’s Day.
A few days earlier, professor Laila filed a case against a teacher of Rajshahi University School and College in Motihar police station for allegedly harassing her daughter sexually.
Since then, a strained relationship had been going on between her and the university administration.
Professor Laila told this reporter that the university vice-chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan asked her why she filed a writ with the High Court. But she denied that she filed the writ. She said adding that a human rights activist filed the writ with the High Court against the university school teacher.
