Rajshahi, Feb 20 – Some Rajshahi University students on Saturday brought out a procession against attacking Jahangirnagar University students by the residents of a village adjacent to the university campus on Friday. They also demanded the opening of the residential halls of the university.
The students started their demonstration from the transport market and ended it at the Buddhijibi Chattar of the university.
Addressing the demonstration the students said, Most students of almost all universities started coming to their campuses though their dormitories remain closed. They are staying in rented hostels that is why the incidents are taking place at Barishal University and Jahangirnagar University. We condemn the incidents of attacking university students.
The universities should open their residential halls for the safety of students, they said.
RU 3rd year student Abdul Kader Jilani conducted the demonstration while joint convenor of RUCSU Andolan Manch Mahmud Saki, president of Cultural Association, Mohiuddin Manik, among others, spoke. – RU Correspondent
