RU students stage demo for exams to continue

Rajshahi – Students of Rajshahi University on Thursday staged a demonstration demanding the withdrawal of postponement of examinations of different departments of the university. They started the demonstration at Paris road of the university at around 11 am and postponed it until next Sunday for getting assurance from the authorities.
Addressing the demonstration Geology and Mining department student Tomalika Haque said, the university authority postponed our exams according to the instruction of the Education Ministry. We want examinations to continue even if the residential halls wouldn’t open. 7 affiliated colleges of Dhaka University realised their demands. It is possible to take examinations on our campus too.
Many of us rented hostels outside the campus after getting the instructions for examinations. Our exams started but suddenly we were disappointed by the authority’s decision of postponing exams. We want the authorities to take proper steps to continue our exams immediately.
The University authority had instructed to take the examinations from January 2. That’s why many departments started taking honour’s final and master’s final exams.
The Education Ministry on February 22 gave instructions to postpone all the examinations until May 23 and the RU authorities decided to postpone all the examinations, she said. – RU Correspondent
