Sabyasachi with Suborna Mustafa

Film-maker Fakhrul Arefeen Khan’s next film “Gondi” has been in the news as veteran actors like Naseruddin Shah and Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, were considered to play the lead role alongside Suborna Mustafa.Finally, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty has been cast to portray a 65-year-old man in the film. Sabyasachi is popularly known as “Feluda” in the Kolkata film industry.
On the other hand, popular Bangladeshi actor Suborna Mustafa will be seen as a 55-year-old single woman whose children live in London.
Director Arefeen told the Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime: “Sabyasachi will play the lead role, and I am going to meet him in Kolkata in the first week of February.”
During their meeting, both the director and actor will elaborate on the characterization of Sabyasachi’s role.
Talking about the film, Arefeen added: “Through this film, I tried to establish the philosophy that friendship has no age or boundaries.”
The tagline of the film is “Friendship has no boundary”.
Based on Reza Arif’s script, the story of the film develops around a friendship between a 65-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, who develop feelings for each other. The film tells the story of how their families react and how their friendship at this age is considered a taboo in our society.
The director completed the shooting of the first part of the film in London, UK, while the rest will be shot in Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka.
“We will begin filming in Cox’s Bazar from March 25,” informed Areefen.
“Prior to the shooting,there will be a rehearsal session in Dhaka on March 11,” he added.
The film’s castalso includes Aparna Ghose, Majnun Mizan and child actor Fiona.
Arefeen, a National Award-winning independent filmmaker,has already made a number of critically acclaimed documentaries,including “Haq-er Ghar”, “Al Badar” and “The Speech”.
His second feature film, “Bhuban Majhi”, was based on the Liberation War of 1971.
