Dhaka, Feb 03 – A Dhaka court on Wednesday asked Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to submit the probe report of a case filed over the murders of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi by March 11. Metropolitan Devdas Chandra Adhikari of the CMM Court of Dhaka passed the order after RAB’s Investigation Officer could not submit the report on Wednesday. With this, the report submission date has been deferred for 78th time so far.
On February 11 in 2012, private TV channel Masranga Television's journalist Golam Mustafa Sarwar alias Sagar Sarwar and his wife Senior Reporter of ATN Bangla Meherun Nahar alias Meherun Runi were murdered at their rented apartment in city’s West Rajabazar area.
Later on February 12, Nowsher Ali Noman, brother of Runi, filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police station of the city.
On April 18, 2012, the High Court Division of the Supreme Court ordered RAB to investigate and submit a report in the case as police and detectives failed to show any progress.
