Renowned musician of West Bengal Sahana Bajpaie returned to Bangladesh after 10 years to perform at “Gaan Gaibar Dine,” held at Bengal Boi in Dhanmondi, Dhaka on Thursday. After eight years of living in Bangladesh in 2000-2008, returning here was quite a melancholic experience for her. Ironically, 10 years back, she left Dhaka on the same day she returned – May 4.
Bengal Boi organizes its program “Gaan Gaibar Dine” every month; this month, Bajpaie was their featured performer.
The audience was eager to see her perform in the city of their soul once again. Her fans could hardly wait to have a glimpse of their favourite musician.
The show started with her singing without any instrument, instantly settling the audience. Bangladeshi musicians Armin Musa and Shamantak Sinha later joined her, performing her famous tracks. Mesmerized by the performances, the audience joined in and sang along with her.
Bajpaie recently released her new singles, yet the audience were more keen to listen to her perform her old track, “Ekta chele.”
“Ekta Chele” was the show stopper of the event; with this song, she bade Bangladesh farewell again.
During the show, Bajpaie encouraged the audience to read books, adding that she thought it was a great initiative of Bengal Boi to promote reading books and make the practice popular among the new generation.
