Salahuddin wants to work with everyone for football’s development

DHAKA – Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin, who was reelected as the president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) for the fourth successive terms, said he wants to work with everyone for the development of country’s football.

After declaring the final results of the polls late night on Saturday, Salahuddin expressed his satisfaction over the victory, saying he is grateful to everyone as they stand beside him. In immediate reaction, he gave full credit to the voters for their panel’s absolute victory in the polls.

He said their victory belonged to the voters because many had told a lot before the polls and the voters answered everything by giving their valuable franchise.

He sincerely thanked to the voters on behalf of his panel.

The legendary footballer Salahuddin said they have been able to keep the football on ground in the last twelve years without missing any league or match.

The players and the councilors, who are directly involved with football, support him because he has been able to arrange football, he said.

The BFF boss said the current players are coming to him because he did the right thing for football.

He also said he would work with everyone for the development of football as it doesn’t matter to him who belonged to what panel.

As per the final results, the celebrated former national footballer Salahuddin secured 94 votes while his nearest rival Badal Roy, who withdrew himself from the contest, got 40 votes. Another president candidate Shafiqul Islam Manik bagged only one vote.

Abdus Salam Murshedy from the Salahuddin-led Combined panel, retained the post of senior vice president as he got 91 vote while his only rival Sheikh Mohammad Aslam secured 44 vote.

To implement the 36-point manifesto, Salahuddin will be assisted by Imrul Hasan (89 votes), Kazi Nabil Ahmed MP (81 votes), Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik (75 votes), who were elected as vice presidents from combined panel in BFF’s Electoral Congress.

A tie was made in the fourth vice president post among Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi and Tabith Awal who jointly got 65 votes each. As there has been tie in vote, so reelection in this post will be held on October 31 at BFF Bhaban.

A total of 135 out of 139 delegates casted their vote on Saturday’s BFF polls.

Salahuddin, one of the most popular celebrities in country’s football arena, was elected as the BFF president in 2008 for the first time by beating his then opponent late Major General (retd) Amin Ahmed Chowdhury.

The living legend of country’s football was again elected unopposed, becoming the president for the second time in 2012 and reelected as BFF president for the third consecutive term defeating businessman Kamrul Ashraf Khan Poton in 2016.BSS
