Seminar on Development Roadmap-Chittogong Division held

Dhaka, Nov 5 – Professor Dr Md. Salim Uddin, FCA, FCMA, Chairman, Executive Committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited and Chairman, Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation presented a paper titled `Roadmap for Development : Promoting Sustainable Growth of Bangladesh – Agenda : Chittagong’ in a seminar on Development Roadmap at Bangabandhu Conference Hall of World Trade Center, Chattagram recently. Leaders, businessperson, industrialists, port users, academicians, bankers and media personalities attended the seminar.

Professor Dr Md. Salim Uddin exhibited the total development activities and its impact on Bangladesh economy by comparing the present 2018 with 2009. The paper concentrated to highlight the past and present Bangladesh, present infrastructural development mega projects in the field of power, ports and physical communication including its impact on the economy of Bangladesh, mega projects concentrated in Chattagram division and finally recommended some initiative based on Chattagram for accommodating in development roadmap. He broadly discussed in his paper about the implementation of  `BIG-B Initiative : Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth Belt’  giving emphasis on The Bay of Bengal: Bangladesh’s ‘third neighbour for total development, speedy completion of  Mirsarai Economic Zone, Development of Port Facilities in Chattagram as per port plan, Implementation of Delta Plan,  Bangladesh government takes up 100-year delta plan to reduce climate risks,  Industrial Development in Chittagong, a list of Specific sector suggested for  Implementation.

He strongly suggested to improve the Development of Strong Connectivity and Network internationally, nationally, internally and intranet connectivity with Chattagram. He stressed on International Connectivity especially with South Asia and South East Asia by air, road, rail  and Sea, National Connectivity specially with Dhaka by eight-lane Highway, Expressway and High Speed Rail, Internal Connectivity specially with Cox’s Bazar, Teknaf, Saintmartin, Bandarban, Rangamati, and Khagrachari by  four-lane highway, Intra Road Connectivity within the districts of Comilla, Feni, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Saintmartin, and Cox’s Bazar. – IBBL press release
