Senior Journalist Abu Zafar Panna passes away

Senior journalist Abu Zafar Panna died of a brain haemorrhage at the National Neuroscience Hospital on Friday afternoon. He was 77. He was admitted to the hospital when he suffered a massive stroke a couple of days before. Abu Zafar Panna started his career as a journalist in the now-defunct Bangladesh Observer. He was the News Editor of the now-defunct Daily News and Managing Editor of News Today from where he retired several years ago.
Born in 1943 he hailed from Feni. A member of the Dhaka Union of Journalists and permanent member of the National Press Club Abu Zafar was a man of amiable disposition. A self-respecting man he was a gentleman journalist. He has left behind two sons and a host of relatives, colleagues, friends and admirers. He will be buried at the Intellectuals’ graveyard at Rayerbazar.
