On and off-screen couple Shakib and Apu are no longer married. Dhaka North City Corporation Zone-3 Executive Officer Hemayet Hossain confirmed that the divorce would be in effect from Monday.”The third and final hearing on the divorce of Shakib Khan and Apu Biswas was held today but none of them attended. As the 90-day period instructed by the law expires today, the case is disposed now and the divorce is effective from today,” he told to the journalists.
Sheikh Sirajul Islam, the lawyer for Shakib, told reporters on Monday that the letter was sent to Apu on November 22. The couple has a son, Abraham Khan Joy.
In the notice seeking divorce, Shakib said, after hearing Apu left their child locked in the house with a maid, he had rushed to her home and failed to open the door. He then filed a general diary at a police station.
“These incidents led Shakib Khan to decide on divorcing Apu,” lawyer Sirajul said.
Apu denied the allegation saying she left their son in safe hands.
After much drama and pointing fingers at each other, the divorce has been finalized.
The duo went on to star in a number of box office hits. They tied the knot in 2008, but kept it a secret until April 10, 2017, when Apu appeared on live television in an interview with their son Joy, born in September 2016.
