Shakib fastest to 5,000 runs, 250 wickets in ODIs

Dhaka – Shakib Al Hasan has become the fastest all-rounder to reach 5,000 runs and 250 wickets in ODI cricket.
The world number one all-rounder from Bangladesh has played just 199 ODI matches to score 5,792 runs and take 250 wickets.

Shakib set the record dismissing Protea opener Aiden Markram (45) against South Africa in the first ICC Cricket World Cup match at Oval on Sunday.

Among other all-rounders, Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka played 304 matches, Shahid Afridi of Pakistan 273 matches, Jacques Kallis of South Africa 296 matches and Abdul Razzaq of Bangladesh played 234 matches to achieve the feat.

Earlier, Shakib reached the landmark of scoring 11,000 runs in all three formats (ODI, Test and T20) of international cricket and became the 2nd highest scorer for Bangladesh after Tamim Iqbal.

He scored a total of 11,070 runs from 326 international matches while Tamim Iqbal topped the list with 12,592 runs from 327 matches.UNB
