Shakib hits maiden double century Shakib-Mushfique set highest Test partnership of 359 in the 1st innings day 2

Dhaka  – All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hit maiden double century and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim hammered a century for Bangladesh against New Zealand when they were playing in the 1st innings of the 1st Test of a two-match series at Basin Reserve, Wellington on Friday.Setting the highest Test partnership figure of 359 in 82.2 overs for Bangladesh against any opponent in any match in away or at home, Shakib was batting on 206 runs while Mushfique was out for 159 runs with the team collection of 519 for 5 in 125.5 overs on the 2nd second day, resuming the day with overnight figure of 154 for 3 in 40.2 overs. The record highest partnership figure came from the 5th pair, while the previous highest partnership score of 312 runs scored against Pakistan in April 2015 in Khulna, came from an opening stand pair between Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes.On the way to set the partnership figure, both Shakib and Mushfique hammered their 4th Test century each.Shakib hammered century against the Kiwis after seven years, following his 1st one of 100 runs was in February 2010 at Seddon Park, Hamilton.Making his Teas debut against India in May 2007 in Chittagong, Shakib played 45 Tests to hit four centuries and 19 half centuries on the way to score 3133at average 41.77 runs.Mushfiqur was caught by Bradley-John Watling off Trent Boult bowling, firing 23 boundaries and one over boundary off 260 balls, leaving team collection at 519/5 in 125.5 overs.Making his Test debut against England in May 2005 at Lord’s, Mushfique played so far 51 matches and score 2909 runs at average 33.43, including four centuries and 15 half centuries.After the departure of Mushfique, Sabbir Rahman came to pair with Shakib.
