Dhaka – Former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team Shakib Al Hasan on Wednesday night met BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and invited her to attend his wedding ceremony.National ace all-rounder Shakib, accompanied by his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir, arrived at the opposition leader’s Gulshan residence at 9:40pm.
“I’ve been here to invite the leader of the opposition (Khaleda Zia) to my wedding ceremony. The function will be held on December 15,” the star cricketer told UNB.
He handed over the invitation card to the opposition leader to attend his post-marriage function.
Earlier, on December 7, Shakib met Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad and invited the former President to attend the function.
Shakib will also invite Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Shakib married Shishir, a US-based software engineer, in Dhaka on December 12 last year.
The couple complete their Akhd, the Islamic marriage formality, at a private function at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. – UNB
