Shooter Baki appears in Rio Olympics on Monday

Dhaka, Aug 7 (UNB) – Bangladeshi ace shooter and the Commonwealth Games silver medalist Abdullah Hel Baki will compete in his favorite and lone event, the men’s 10-meter air rifles qualification round of the 31st Olympic Games in Rio on Monday at 6 pm (Bangladesh time),UNB news agency reported.Archer Shamoly Ray was the first athlete of the seven-member Bangladesh team, started the campaign in the ongoing Olympic Games in the women’s individual ranking round of on the opening day (Friday) and was placed 53rd among the 64 competitors at Sambodromo in Rio.Shamoly, who scored 600 in the individual ranking round, will have a tough task of facing 12th ranked Gabriela Bayardo of Mexico in the individual eliminations round of 32 Thursday (August 11) at the same venue. Gabriela was placed 12th scoring 648.Country’s celebrated golfer Siddikur Rahman will compete in Bangladesh’s most prospective event of men’s individual stroke play, first round on Thursday (Aug 11) at 4:30 pm (Bangladesh time).Swimmer Mahfizur Rahman Sagar will participate in his lone Olympics event –men’s 50-meter free style heat, also on Thursday (Aug 11) at 10 pm.Another swimmer Sonia Akhter will compete in women’s 50-meter frees style heats on Friday (Aug 12) at 10 pm, athlete Shirin Akhter will participate in women’s 100-meter sprint heats, also on Friday (Aug 12) at 8:55 pm while another athlete Mesbah Ahmed will compete in men’s 100-meter sprint heats on Saturday (Aug 13) at 6:30 pm, all re Bangladesh time.A 16-member contingent, including seven athletes, representing
