Dhaka –Bangladesh’s celebrity golfer Siddikur Rahman will contest in the $3 million Maybank Championship to be started at Saujana Golf and Country Club, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.The two times Asian Tour winner, Siddikur, will take part in the meet against the elite golfers, including Major champions Danny Willett of England, Charl Schwartzel of South Africa and OOM champions Anirban Lahiri, Thongchai Jaidee and Scott Hend. According to the latest Order of Merit (OOM) 2016, Siddikur is in the top 60 and will take part in the meet as Category 9(a) golfer.The top Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) players have been selected to play in the tournament based on their rankings in the Official World Golf Ranking and positions local tour, Asian Tour and ADT Order of Merits.A total of 199 golfers from across the world are taking part in the tournament.The 32 year-old, Siddikur finished runners-up in the $300,000 Bashundhara Bangladesh Open on home ground on February 4, showing his best form in the last two years.UNB
