Dhaka – Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Team BJMC 1-0 to secure their 2nd successive victory in the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.After the barren first half, Sheikh Jamal DC forward Nurul Absar scored the match winner in the 54th minute, 1-0.Sk Jamal’s midfielder Ali Hossain carried the ball from midfield to deliver a cross into the box from left flank; BJMC defender tackled the attempt and took a shot to clear the ball which was volleyed by Absar to fire the net.Sk Jamal Gambian forward Momodu Bau missed an opportunity earlier in the 82nd minute as his left footed shot from the top corner of the box went out the out edging the crosspiece after touching a defender feet.In the remaining period of the 2nd half both the sides created couple of fruitless chances in the muddy ground.Earlier, in the 25th minute, SK Jamal goalie Mitul Hossain saved his side gripping a left footed attempt from the box by BJMC midfielder Abdullah Al Mamun.SK Jamal Nigerian forward Raphael Odovin Onwrbe with his solo efforts carried the ball from the midfield and took a shot from the box which went out edging the left post in the 39th minute.The day’s match delayed around half an hour to start due to waterlog on the ground after a heavy shower.With this win, Sk Jamal collected six points from two matches as they started the12-team tournament campaign with 2-0 victory against Mohammedan Sporting Club.Team BJMC suffered the 1st loss in this edition BPL after playing a goalless draw against Brothers Union in their first encounter.UNB news agency
