Solo show of young Japanese artist on at Zainul Gallery

A solo painting exhibition of Japanese artist Asami Shode started on March 10 at Zainul Gallery, Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), University of Dhaka (DU). The exhibition will run everyday until March 16 from 11 in the morning to 7 in the evening.It has been titled “Phase Transition Existence of on and off”.Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, vice-chancellor of DU inaugurated the exhibition. Pierre Mayaudon, ambassador of European Union to Bangladesh; Professor Dr Nisar Hossain, dean, FFA and noted art collector Md. Moshiul Azam Shajal were present as special guest at the inaugural ceremony. Dr Mohammad Iqbal, assistant professor of Department of Drawing and Painting, University of Dhaka is overseeing the show as coordinator.

A total of fifty five works have been put on display at the show. The works have been done in oil and mixed medium.The exhibition has been organised by Department of Drawing and Painting, University of Dhaka. It has been arranged in accordance with an agreement reached between Department of Drawing and Painting, University of Dhaka and Department of Oil Painting, Tokyo University of Arts.Asami Shiode is currently an MFA student of Department of Oil Painting, Tokyo University of Arts. She took birth in 1985 in Ehime Prefecture in Japan. Apart from her current post-graduate studies she got another MFA degree from Onimichi City University five years ago. Since 2004 she has partaken in almost fifteen group exhibitions and four solos. She won the Purchasing Award of Onomichi University Graduation Exhibition twice as well as the prestgious Kokuga award.
