Dhaka — After missing out on the central contract initially, Soumya Sarkar has finally been named in A-plus category of the newly-announced cricketers central contract with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The board sent a press release on Tuesday evening confirming Soumya Sarkar’s contract for white-ball cricket in the A-plus category along with confirming the category of the other national cricketers.
The BCB, however, is yet to disclose the remunerations of different categories of national cricketers.
Including Soumya, a total of 17 cricketers have been included in this year’s central contract, although, the cricketers asked to include at-least 30 cricketers in the central contract during their demonstration last October. BCB had agreed to their proposal at that time, but didn’t keep the promise.
Seven out of 17 players are included in the central contract for both white and red ball cricket, six players only for white ball cricket while four for the red-ball cricket only.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal are in A-plus category in both white and red-ball cricket while Mahmudullah Riyad and Soumya Sarkar are also in A-plus category only for white-ball cricket. Test captain Mominul Haque is in the A category for red-ball cricket only.
Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz are in B category in both white and red-ball cricket while Taijul Islam in the same category only for red-ball cricket. Mustafizur Rahman also in the same category for white-ball cricket.
Mohammad Mithun, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Nayeem Hasan, Abu Jayed Rahi and Ebadot Hossain are in D category for red-ball cricket while Taijul Islam and Najmul Hossain in D category for white-ball cricket.
Afif Hossan, Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Mohammad Mithun and Mohammad Saifuddin are in the C category for white-ball cricket.
Along with recent-past ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Test and T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan, eight players were dropped from the previous central contract.
Six players earned the central contract this year for both the red and white ball cricket after missed out last time.
They are: Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal (A-plus), Liton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (B), Taijul Islam (B in red-ball, C in white-ball), Mohammad Mithun (D in white-ball, C in white ball), Najmul Hossain Shanto (D).
Cricketers, who got the central contract for red-ball cricket only are: Mominul Haque (A), Nayeem Hasan, Abu Jayed Rahi and Ebadot Hossain (D).
Players, who got the central contract for white-ball cricket only are: Mahmudullah Riyad, Soumya Sarkar (A-plus), Mustafizur Rahman (B), Mohammad Saifuddin (C) , Afif Hossain and Mohammad Naim Sheikh (D).UNB
