Stocks hit 6 months’ low

Dhaka – The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) lost 51 points on its key index, falling for the second successive day into the New Year, to hit a six month low on Wednesday.The general index lost 51 points to stand a little over 4,139 points amidst turnover of over Tk 1.2 billion after close – a six month low.
A total of 30 issues gained with 192 issues declining and 29 remaining unchaged.
The previous low in six moths was on Jun 21 last year with around Tk 1.18 billion turnover.
The DSE kicked off New Year shedding more than 28 points amidst over Tk 1.53 billion turnover on Tuesday, the first day of 2013.
The premier bourse was closed on Monday.
On Sunday, the DSE ended more than 14 points higher amid above Tk 2.49 billion in turnover.
The key index gained 30 points last week with average turnover over Tk 2.04 billion, more than 8 percent lower than the previous week.
