Stocks maintain upward trend with higher transactions

Stocks maintained upward trend on Monday as the major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges were found upward on higher transactions.

The daily turnover in volume increased to 43.81 crore shares from Sunday’s 35.09 crore shares and the day’s trade value rose to Taka 1,187.35 crore from Taka 919.32 crore of the previous session of the week.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 5.97 points up at 5,913.59. But the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES closed the day with 4.99 points down at 2,125.07 and with 4.01 points down at 1,309.11.

At DSE, out of the day’s 331 traded issues, prices of 102 securities closed higher against 202 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Rupali Bank, BBS Cables, Uttara Finance, Northern and SAPORTL. The major losing companies were Imam Button, ISNLTD, BD Welding, Aziz Pipes and Dulamia Cotton.

IFIC topped the turnover list followed by City Bank, BBS Cables, EBL and NBL.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 23.85 points up at 18,347.88.

The trade value of the day was Taka 68.46 crore and the volume was 2.88 crore. Out of the traded 265 issues 149 closed up against 95 lagging securities, reports BSS.
