The grand finale of “STAR-BRACU Short Film Contest 2018” was held on Wednesday at STAR Zone, Level-8, Bashundhara City, Panthapath, Dhaka. This third edition of the contest is jointly organized by Star Cineplex and BRAC University. All the films will be screened at Star Cineplex and famed actress Suborna Mustafa, Afsana Mimi and famous filmmaker Giasuddin Selim will be present as jury board members.This year the theme is “Drug abuse and its prevention,” informed the organiser.
As part of the contest, students of 11 universities uploaded their three-minute films, to the dedicated Facebook page between February 25 and March 10.
The participating universities are BRAC University, Independent University Bangladesh, North South University, East West University, Bangladesh University of Professionals, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Military Institute of Science and Technology, United International University, University of Liberal Arts and Daffodil University.
The three best short films will be selected by the jury board members and Facebook likes. Out of total 100 marks, the jury board will mark out of 90 while Facebook ‘likes’ will carry the remaining 10 points.
The makers of three best short films will be awarded and provided with a chance to participate in an international workshop on film making.
