Dhaka – Fahad clinched the men’s senior title of the Brac Chicken 2nd National Surfing Championship that concluded on
Saturday at the Laboni point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach.With the day’s outstanding performance, Fahad earned the surf board
award from the touring Surfing the Nations (STN) team in addition to cash award of Tk 20,000.Rifa Akhter emerged champions in the women’s group while Mannan clinched the Junior (Beginners) group title to receive Tk 15,000 each as cash awards.In the men’s senior group, Kamal Hossain became the first runner-up to get prize money of Tk 15,000 while Nasim Hossain finished the 2nd runner-up to receive Tk 10,000.In the women’s group, Ayesha Akhter finished first runner-up to be richer with Tk 10,000 while Sheba Mehnaj became the 2nd runner-up to get Tk 5,000 as prize money.President of Bangladesh Surfing Association (BSA) and former Minister Kazi Firoz Rashid MP was the chief guest in the day’s closing function and later he distributed the prizes.Tournament co-sponsor Novo Air provided Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar-Dhaka return air tickets to the champions of men’s, women’s and junior groups.Local parliament member Hazi Mohammad Elias, Director of the meet’s sponsor Brac Chicken Towfique Ahmed, Joint Secretary of National Sports Council Ashok Kumra Biswas also spoke on the occasion.Parvez A Chowdhury of Bangladesh Parjaton Corporation (BPC), Iftekhar Mahmud of Novo Air and BSA general secretary Moazzem Hossain Rokon wera also present. Ninety surfers including 10 women’s took part in the three-day competition, organised by Bangladesh Surfing Association (BSA). (UNB)
