DHAKA —Bangladesh one-day cricket skipper Tamim Iqbal was left in an awkward situation with his namesake Tanzid Hasan Tamim, the member of World Champions Bangladesh Under-19 team.
Tanzid Tamim was included in the Tamim Iqbal-led Tamim XI for the BCB President’s Cup and the problem started there.
“Earlier people used to call me Tamim bhai and now when he comes here, people start calling him Tamim. When someone calls Tamim, it also creates a problem actually which Tamim is being called up,” Tamim light heartedly shared the matter.
“So to solve the matter, I told everyone to call him with another name to prevent us from being embarrassed.”
However terming the Junior Tamim as the bright prospect of the Bangladesh team, he said, “He looks a good prospect. We practiced together in the net and he was hitting the ball nicely.”
These two Tamim will open the innings when Tamim XI will take on Mahmudullah XI in the second match of the BCB President’s Cup tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium here.
“It will be a competitive tournament. We will play against them tomorrow and hopefully we will come out as winners. We have to come up with our best and the players know that well. We hope to execute our plan well on the ground,” he added.BSS
