Tamimul wins archery gold for Bd in C’Wealth Youth Games

Tamimul Islam has become the first Bangladeshi to win a gold medal in the Commonwealth Youth Games when the 16-year-old archer won the event in the fifth edition of the youth jamboree in Samoa on Friday.Bangladesh claimed a medal at this level last ti9me in the 2008 edition in Pune, when Fatimah Akhtar Moyna won bronze in weightlifting.
A BKSP student, Tamimul, beat India’s Nishanath Kumawat 6-5 in the final, after a 6-2 victory in the semifinals.
Archery is the newest sports federation in Bangladesh and it has been performing satisfactoly at international events. – News Desk
