Dhaka, Sept 24 (UNB) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday claimed that GK Shamim used to give BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman Tk 1 crore every month.
“There’re reports in online portals that GK Shamim used to give Tarique Rahman Tk 1 crore per month. He also used to give money to many other BNP leaders. That means those who started the casino culture used to take monthly payments,” he said while talking to reporters at Rajshahi Circuit House.
The minister alleged that BNP leaders Sadeque Hossain Khoka, Mirza Abbas and Mosaddek Hossain Falu started the casino culture during the BNP regime.
Asked why they did not take action against casino business previously, he claimed that action was taken but now a combing operation is now underway.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has launched the crackdown on drugs and irregularities, Hasan said, adding that action will be taken against all the offenders, no matter which party they belong to.
