Taskin to begin individual training tomorrow at SBNCS

DHAKA —Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is set to begin his individual training tomorrow (Thursday) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium after four-month hiatus forced by the COVID-19.

The fast bowler will join the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Shafiul Islam, Imrul Kayes and Mehedi Hasan Rana who had already started individual training at this venue in accordance with the standard health protocol.

Like his fellow pacemen Shaiful and Mehedi Hasan Rana, Taskin’s activities will also limited to just running and gym as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to give the permission of bowling.

The batsmen like Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun however are doing their batting practice at bowling machine in indoor.

In a bid keep him fit, Taskin has been doing fitness training at home since the outbreak of corona virus. He also used his garage to practice bowling but that was no adequate.

“Apart from doing gym at home, I regularly practice bowling at my garage but that was not adequate because you won’t feel the impression of bowling at ground there,” Taskin told the BSS.

Taskin eyed Dhaka Premier League (DPL) to make a comeback to the national team yet again but unfortunately the league was postponed after the first round due to the COVID-19.

“Fitness is key to do well in bowling and I felt I was completely fit. So I was eying to do something bigger in the DPL to make my way to the national team again. Unfortunately the corona virus ruined everything.

But in a bid to keep myself fit, I did fitness training regularly. However there is gulf of difference between outdoor and indoor training. So it’s nice to be back to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium,” he added.

Meanwhile, the consistent rain continued marring the running session of the batsmen and bowlers at SBNCS. But still the players like, Mohammad Mithun, Imrul Kayes and Mehedi Hasan Rana came to the ground and did indoor training.BSS
