Chittagong, Nov 24 – Police have arrested a teacher in Sitakunda Upazila for allegedly raping a schoolgirl.
The arrestee is Mohammad Tareque, a teacher of Sitakunda Girls’ High School and son of Zahir Ahmed of Muradpur union in the Upazila.The arrest was made on Saturday night after the victim filed a case in the evening, said police.
According to the case statement, Tareque took the girl to a residential hotel in the port city of Chattogram in July last and raped her with a false promise of marriage.
However, he refused to marry her when she put pressure on her.
Officer-in-charge (Operations) of Sitakunda Model Police Station Abdul Kalam said they arrested the schoolteacher from Muradpur soon after the filing of the case. – UNB
