Ten students fall sick ‘drinking water’ at Rajshahi madrasah

Dhaka – At least ten students of a madrasah fell sick reportedly after drinking water from a tank in the madrasah premises in Kakonhat of Godagari upazila of Rajshahi on Monday night, UNB news agency reported.
Eight of the sick students were identified as Biplob, 11, Naim Islam, 14, Miftahul Zannat, 7, Akhter Rahman, 7, Shahadat, 14, Sifat, 12, Sabbir, 12, and Sahabuddin 13.SM Abu Forhad, officer-in-charge of Godagari Model Police Station, said the students of Kundoliya Hafezia Madrasah drank water of the tank while performing ablutions for maghrib prayer.
Later several students started to vomit and lost their consciousness.
All the sick students were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
On information, the OC, acting upazila nirbahi officer Mohammad Monir Hossain and Rishikul union parishad chairman Shahidul Islam Tulu visited the madrasah.
Locals suspect that miscreants mixed poison with the water over enmity.
Police also collected a bottle and a packet as evidence.
‘We are investigating the incident and legal steps will be taken,” added the OC.
