Tigers’ Sri Lanka tour uncertain

Dhaka – Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning to cancel Tigers’ ensuing tour to Sri Lanka in July next following the recent terrorist attacks in the island nation, BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon said on Saturday.

The tour was originally scheduled for December this year, but the two boards re-fixed the tour in July which became uncertain for the current security situation in Sri Lanka following the terrorist attacks.

“They (Sri Lanka) have invited us to continue the tour on schedule (July). Now, we’re observing the present situation there, but under the current circumstances, there’s no question of touring Sri Lanka,” Nazmul Hassan said.

“Not only Bangladesh, I think, no team will agree to tour Sri Lanka at this moment due to the current situation in the island nation. At the same time, their president recently said they have fear of more terror attacks. Since they’re in fear of more attacks in near future, there’s no possibility of a tour to Sri Lanka,” he said.UNB
