Export and import through Akhaurha Land Port has been suspended in view of counting of ballots for Agartala Nagar Nigam [municipality] elections.People, however, can use the port as usual for crossing the border.Md Hasibul Hassan, adviser of Akhaurha Land Port Importers-Exporters Association, on Saturday said Indian traders decided to halt the export and import activities at the port for a day for the counting.However, the normal operations will resume on Sunday, he said quoting Manish Biswas Habul, general secretary of Agartala Land Port Importers-Exporters Association.No goods crossed the border through the port on Wednesday as well because it was the voting day in Agartala elections.
