Thakurgaon, Aug 2 (UNB) – Eight people were killed and 29 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses on Thakurgaon-Dhaka highway at Borokhochabari in Sadarupazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as bus driver Chaina, 40, Bipul Chandra, Fatema, Mostafa, Mangali Rani, Joba, Abdur Rahman and Abdul Majid.
The fatal road crash took place around 8 am when a bus of ‘DipzolParibahan’ from Dhaka collided with another bus of ‘Nishat Enterprise’ coming from the opposite direction, leaving five people dead on the spot and 32 others injured, said AshiqurRahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Twenty four injured people were taken to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared two people dead.
Later, 10 of the injured were shifted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital while another injured victim died way to the hospital.
