Treat Asia U-18 Basketball begins Wednesday

Dhaka- The four-team Treat FIBA Asia U-18 Basketball Qualifiers for boys, organised by Bangladesh Basketball Federation, begins at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.Four nations-India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh–will compete in the two-day competition sponsored by Treat Dairy Milk Chocolate and Fruitfill Gum of Pran-RFL Group.The champions of the four-nation qualifying meet will be entitled to play in the final round of the FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship to be held in Iran on July 15-25.Hosts Bangladesh will play giant India in the inaugural match on Wednesday at 8 am while Bangladesh will face Nepal again on the same day at 4 pm. Bangladesh will play their last match against Sri Lanka on Thursday at 4 pm.Secretary of National Sports Council Ashok Kumar Biswas will inaugurate the two-day tournament.General Secretary of Bangladesh Basketball Federation AK Sarker, who is also the secretary general of South Asian Basketball Association, disclosed this at a press conference at Dutch-Bangla Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association here on Monday.AKM Moinul Islam Moin, Head of Marketing and Sales and Shakhawat Ahmed, brand manager of PRAN Confectionery Ltd also spoke on the occasion.
