Triangular clash at RU over cricket match; 10 injured

Rajshahi, March 03 – At least 10 students of Rajshahi University were injured as three groups of students on Tuesday were locked in two rounds clash at the Tukitaki Chattar of the university over a cricket match. One of them, a master’s level student of Philosophy department, Saiful Islam, was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
According to the witnesses, Philosophy department 2nd-year student Jibon created noise with Saiful Islam at the Sheikh Kamal Stadium of the university during a cricket match between the Philosophy department and Geography and Environmental Science department.
Later, the Philosophy department teachers called a meeting of the duo where Jibon did not attend.
However, Jibon along with his friends of the university Public Administration department beat up Saiful Islam and his friend Sheikh Sadi at the university Tukitaki Chattar after the end of the meeting.
On the other hand, Marketing department students tried to stop the clash and in the process were locked in the clash, leaving a clash that left at least ten students injured.
Later, university proctor Professor Lutfor Rahman and RU unit BCL general secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Professor Lutfor Rahman told this reporter that he asked the students to work on solving the problem.
University philosophy department chairman Professor Jahidul Islam told this reporter that they formed a body to investigate the incident. – CU Correspondent
