Two COVID-19 experts help BCB to deal with corona

DHAKA – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken assistance from two COVID-19 expert to handle the coronavirus situation as the national team will visit Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series.

They took expert opinion from those two specialists as to how the players and officials will move from ground to hotel or hotel to ground and other places in the time of COVID-19

One expert is a professor at Dhaka University while another is from the University of Sheffield in England but the board didn’t disclose their names.

Those two experts had already held online meetings with a group of cricketers from the national team and high performance team.

“We have been able to contact them through a source. We have brought them here and showed them all things. We arranged a meeting between them and the cricketers. We are taking their expert knowledge to deal with COVID-19 problem,” BCB chief physician Dr. Debashis Chowdhury said.

“We will try to get their help. We will take their help till we go to Sri Lanka.”

“They have had a session with the cricketers,” he said. “We’ll prepare a guideline for the Lanka tour through their assistance since we have to careful due to the situation.” These two professors have been working with the Bangladesh government at different levels since the outbreak of COVID-19.

The Bangladesh team will leave the country for Sri Lanka on September 27. Before that, the cricketers will be tested on September 18. The cricketers of Bangladesh team are scheduled to stay at the hotel on September 20. The preparation camp for the series will start the next day.

Bangladesh team will go to Sri Lanka after one week of practice. At the same time, as the BCB High Performance Team has a Sri Lanka series, the National Team and the High Performance Team will fly to Sri Lanka on the same flight.

Bangladesh is scheduled to play its first warm-up match in Colombo on October 4 in Sri Lanka. After playing another warm-up match on October 10, the Bangladesh team will go to Kandy for the first Test venue. The preparation matches of the national team will be against the BCB High Performance Team.

According to the draft schedule of the tour, the first Test is on October 24. The second of three-match Test series will be played on October 31 at the same venue in Kandy. The last Test of the series is scheduled for November 8, the venue is Colombo.

On the other hand, although the schedule of the series is yet to be fixed, the BCB High Performance team was scheduled to play a four-day match and a one-day match against the Sri Lanka High Performance team.BSS
