Dhaka – Dhaka Abahani Limited managed a semifinal berth in the 3rd Under-18 Football Tournament eliminating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 5-4 goals in sudden death session of tie-breaker at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Tuesday.
The crucial 4th and last quarterfinal match between two soccer giants ended in 2-2 draw in the stipulated period. Apon Chandra Roy and Dipok Roy scored one each for Abahani while Samuel Soron netted the both goals for Sheikh Jamal.
The match was again locked 4-4 goals in the first four shots of the tie breaker. In the final attempt, Abahani custodian saved the Abdul Kader Molla shot and later Hakim Biswas scored the winning goal for Abahani Limited.
Abahani Limited will play the 2nd semifinal on Friday against Arambagh KS, which made a last four berth beating Saif Sporting Club by 2-0 goals on Monday while Brothers Union Club will encounter Farashganj SC in the first semifinal on Thursday.UNB
