Dhaka – Saif Sporting Club played 1-1 draw against NoFeL Sporting Club in the opening match of the Walton Under-18 Football Tournament 2018-19 at Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Friday.
Saniyat scored for Saif SC converting a penalty in the 31st minute while Mejbah leveled the margin for NoFeL SC in the 49th minute.
Senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Abdus Salam Murshedy MP inaugurated the event as chief guest.
In the day’s other match, Chattogram Abahani outplayed Muktijoddha SKC by 5-0 goals at the same venue.
Jamal made hat-trick scoring three goals in the 20th, 39th and stoppage time (46th minute), Rasel scored in the 10th minute and Ibrahim in the 86th minute for Chattogram Abahani.
On Saturday, Sheikh Jamal DC to play Rahmatgonj MFS at 4pm while Dhaka Abahani to take on Bashundhara Kings at 7pm.
Twelve teams of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) clubs – split into four groups – will take part in the tournament.
Participating clubs are:
Group A: Chattogram Abahani, Brothers Union, Muktijoddha SKC
Group B: Sheikh Jamal DC, Arambagh KS, Rahmatgonj MFS
Group C: Dhaka Abahani, Dhaka Mohammedan, Bashundhara Kings
