Victorians seek to bounce back against Kings

Dhaka – Comilla Victorians are seeking to bounce back when they play against Rajshahi Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at 7pm on Friday. The Victorians lost their second match of the ongoing BPL to Rangpur Riders by a big margin of nine wickets after a poor batting display.

They started their BPL with a hard-fought win against Sylhet Sixers but failed to live up to the expectations against the Riders. But now, they are looking forward to beating the Kings on Friday.

“In the last match, we failed to take the advantage of the wicket. That was the main reason behind our loss. But we’re capable of bouncing back in the next match,” Mohammad Salahuddin, coach of the Victorians, told reporters on Thursday.

The local players of the Victorians like Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes and Anamul Haque are yet to show their capability in the tournament which seems to be their main concern. But Salahuddin is upbeat about their performance.

“We saw that the local guys played the important role during the previous seasons of BPL, but they’re yet to display their strength in the ongoing tournament,” Salahuddin said.

“They’re not doing well, and obviously, it’s a matter of concern. But I believe they will adapt as quickly as possible,” he added.

On the other hand, the Kings kicked off their BPL mission losing to Dhaka Dynamites on the opening day of the league. But they bounced back strongly against Khulna Titans when Mehidy Hasan Miraz hit the first fifty as a local player in the tournament.

“It was nice to win the second match since we failed to do same in the first one. Now we have to look forward to bringing the confidence in the next matches,” Mehidya Hasan said after beating Khulna in the last over on Wednesday.
