Munshiganj, Aug 19 (UNB) – A young woman has reportedly been gang-raped by miscreants when she was hanging around with her husband at a tourist spot in Sirajdikhan upazila.
Locals caught an accused, Sohel, 23, son of Osman Mia of Baghapur village in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka, and handed him over to police. He was produced before a court on Monday when he confessed to his crime.
Farid Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sirajdikhan Police Station, said the victim, 19, along with her husband went on a pleasure trip to Rajatrekha DC Project at Palashpur village on Sunday afternoon.
Sohel, Nasir Uddin, 24, son of Salauddin, and Shamim Mia, 23, son of Khorshed Alam of Palashpur village in the upazila, surrounded them around 5pm and held the victim’s husband captive after beating him, he said.
Later, they violated the woman in turns. Sohel also captured the nefarious act in his mobile phone, the OC added.
Hearing victim’s screams, locals rushed in and caught Sohel red-handed while others managed to flee the scene.
The victim filed a case with Sirajdikhan Police Station on Monday accusing the trio, Farid said.
