Women’s Euro 2013: Holders Germany defeat Sweden

Dzsenifer Marozsan’s goal earned a semi-final win over hosts Sweden as Germany stayed on course for a sixth straight European Championship title.Marozsan prodded in from Anja Mittag’s through ball just after the half-hour mark in Gothenburg.
Sweden’s Lotta Schelin thought she had equalised only to be called back by a late offside flag and Josefine Oqvist also hit the post for the home side.
Norway face Denmark in the second semi-final on Thursday.
Germany have struggled for form throughout the tournament, scoring just five goals in five games, but they have only conceded once going into Sunday’s final in Stockholm.
As Sweden made an impressive start, Schelin drove just past the far post and Oqvist hit the side-netting.
But, from a clever pass from the impressive Mittag, Marozsan guided a low shot past the onrushing Kristin Hammarstrom for her first goal of the tournament in the 33rd minute.
Hammarstrom pulled off a fine save to push Laudehr’s header away from Marozsan’s corner shortly before the interval.
Sweden improved after the break but Schelin’s fine effort was ruled out for offside and Oqvist saw her dangerous cross glance away off the outside of the post. – BBC Sport
