Defending champions Narail District made a good start in the Walton 3rd Women’s Hockey Tournament beating Kishoreganj District by 1-0 goal in the official opening match at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium here Monday afternoon.Kimi Karmakar scored the match-winner for Narail by a field goal in the 23rd minute.
Earlier, Dinajpur DSA drew goalless with Jheinaidah DSA in the morning while Thakurgaon DSA beat Dhaka DSA by 1-0 goal in the afternoon in the day’s other two fixture.Shimu Akhter Sima netted the match-decider for Thakurgaon with a field goal in the 24th minute.Three more matches will be held on Tuesday at the same venue. Rajshahi will encounter Thakurgoan at 11 am, Patuakhaki will meet Jhenaidah at 2:30 pm while Rangpur will face Kishoreganj at 4:15 pm.(UNB)
