A daylong workshop on safe migration organized by BRAC and financed by Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) was held at Faridpur Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium here on Sunday.
Faridpur Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor attended the workshop as the chief guest with Sadar Upazila UNO Md. Jahirul Islam in the chair.
The JSDF has been implementing a three-year project of the BRAC on ‘Safe Migration for Bangladeshi Workers’ since July 2013 in 80 upazilas of 20 districts across the country. The World Bank is supervising the financial management of the programme.
The programme is aimed at creating social awareness among the intending overseas job seekers, imparting training to them as well as their family members and also help them in various migration process.
It has been disclosed in the workshop that a successful implementation of the project would benefit nearly eight lakh 64 thousand intending migrated workers and their families.
All union parishad chairmen of Sadar Upazila attended the workshop side by side with educationists, journalists, NGO representatives and police officials.
