Youth Test: Batsmen guide England U-19 to 295/6 on Day 1

Dhaka – Visiting England Under-19 posted 295 runs for six wickets on the first day of the second Youth Test against Bangladesh on Friday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
England lost the first match by eight wickets. But their batsmen have recovered well, taking advantage of the batting-friendly wicket.

Bangladesh U-19, looking for a consecutive series win, won the toss and decided to bowl first. England were 168 for two. They lost their first wicket at 16 when Asadullah Galib scalped the wicket of George Balderson (9). In the second wicket stand, Ben Charlesworth and Jamie Smith added 152 runs.

But at this stage, Bangladeshi bowlers scalped three wickets in four balls.

Right-arm spinner Mujakkir Hossain broke the partnership, taking the wicket of Charlesworth (63). One ball later, Ruhel Ahmed took the wicket of Smith (90) and Lewis Goldsworthy (0) in two successive deliveries.

From 168/1 in 45.4 overs, England were down to 168/4 in 46.2 balls. But in the fifth wicket stand, they have scored another 70 runs. George Hill remained unbeaten for 79 runs at the end of the day.

Ruhel and Minhazur Rahman took two wickets for the junior Tigers while Asadullah and Mujakkir bagged one wicket each.UNB
